Márcio Corrêa won the Improvisation category on the 2nd Batuka! Masters – National Drummer´s Contest, in 1997. He also participated, with his own tune “Caminhando” in the 1st Batuka! CD, released in 1998.

Márcio started to play drums at 11 years old and with 19 got into the Conservatório Dramático e Musical Dr. Carlos de Campos, in Tatuí, São Paulo, as a percussion and drum set student.
Participated on the 1st Prêmio Visa de Música Instrumental, and was a semi-finalist. Once a classical percussion student, participated on the 2nd Encontro Latino Americano de Percussão, performing at its oppening act with the Grupo de percussão de Tatuí, in The Memorial da América Latina (SP). In the year of 1999, Márcio moved to Sydney, Australia where he stayed for 2 years playing and exchanging experiences with local musicians. Back in Brazil, he had te opportunity of playing with the Gargântua group, in music scoring and movie soundtracks. In this group, Márcio participated in a project which had live musicians playing the movie´s soundtrack while it was exhibited.
This project was executed in SESC units including the São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro
and Maceió ones. In 2003, becomes a member of the Brazilian instrumental music
orchestra Vintena Brasileira, by the the pianist André Marques. In the year
2006, a section of this group performed at the Obra Prima project, a homage to
Tom Jobim and had the participations of Danilo Caymmi, Elza Soares, Rosas
Passos, among other acclaimed Brazilian musicians. In 2008, performs with
Vintena Brasilaira at the SESC Instrumental SP.
